City of Greencastle Parks & Recreation 

Mission Statement

    The mission of the Greencastle Parks & Recreation Department is to provide wholesome recreational opportunities, which reflect the interests and needs of the Greencastle community and to plan, acquire, develop, and maintain quality parks and facilities that will enhance the City of Greencastle.

Department Information

    Toward its mission, the Greencastle Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for maintaining eight municipal parks, the Greencastle Aquatics Center and the People Pathways bicycle and pedestrian trails. The department also provides many recreational and cultural opportunities throughout the year for participants of all ages.

    The parks & recreation department is governed by the Greencastle Board of Park Commissioners, which consists of four members appointed by the Mayor, along with three board liaisons from the Putnam County Library, Greencastle Community School Board and the Greencastle City Council.

    The Greencastle Parks & Recreation Department is located inside the main entrance to Robe-Ann Park across the drive from the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution) log cabin.
