Snow Emergency Announcement
Residents of the City of Greencastle:
Snow Emergency: The Mayor of the City of Greencastle is anticipating a Snow Emergency per Sec. 8-33 of the City Code, due to the anticipated severe winter weather conditions that are expected to impact our area. Starting from 7:00 AM, on Sunday, January 5th through 7:00 PM on Monday, January 6th, significant snowfall is predicted, resulting in hazardous travel conditions and blocked roadways. This Snow Emergency will go into effect as soon as 4 inches of snow has fallen in Greencastle.
Parking Regulations: To facilitate snow removal efforts, the City is requesting that all vehicles be parked off the streets in driveways. If parking in a driveway is not possible, beginning Saturday, January 4th at noon, residents MUST park their vehicles on the north and east sides of streets to facilitate snow removal efforts. Then, beginning Monday, January 5th at noon, residents MUST move their vehicles to the west and south sides of the streets (the opposite side), to allow snow crews to plow in those areas. Vehicles that do not follow these procedures will be subject to a fine.
Travel Advisory: The City strongly advises against non-essential travel. If travel is necessary, please ensure that you have warm clothing, blankets, and fully charged cell phones.
Emergency Services: In case of emergencies, please contact 911. Stay tuned for updates on road conditions, snow removal efforts, and further instructions.
